Problem

Routine engineering calculations get done in scattered spreadsheets. Each one embeds assumptions that are obvious to whoever wrote it and invisible to everyone else, and none of them records which code or reference the method came from.

The calculation is rarely the hard part. Knowing which method applies, what assumptions it carries, and whether the inputs are within its valid range is the hard part — and that is exactly what a spreadsheet cell does not tell you.

Product vision

A set of calculation tools where the method, its assumptions and its reference are visible alongside the result, so the output can be checked rather than trusted.

The intent is decision support, not automation. A tool that returns a duct size without stating the velocity assumption behind it has moved the error rather than removed it.

Users

Mechanical and MEP engineers doing routine sizing and verification, and facilities engineers checking whether installed equipment matches the duty it is actually serving.

Engineering value

The distinguishing intent is transparency of method. Showing the assumption and the reference next to the number is what separates a tool an engineer can sign off from one that produces an answer nobody can defend.

Whether that is worth building at scale is still an open question, which is why this is presented as a concept rather than a product.

Concept. The areas listed above have been explored rather than built, and no module is presented as a working tool.
